[AA Auto Service, 3031 Great North Road, New Lynn] I got a silver service on my car - apparently but when I drove off I went to use my windscreen wipers and they didn’t seem to be working properly. It seemed odd as they had been fine before and I realised the first problem was they hadn’t been put on properly! A really simple thing and that was not even done correctly. This was the simplest of the things that were wrong, I won’t go into detail but I will just say I found them to be careless, and I will not be taking my car there again. It may have just been an off day, but I did not get so much as an apology for any of it..	Placed: 19/05/2006

Excellent, prompt and friendly service after I called them to help me start my van after allowing the battery to become discharged. Provided tips and good advice to prevent a similar problem in the future.	Placed: 07/08/2006

A pre purchase inspection (organised by car dealer) was conducted by AA. Their inspection did not reveal a major steering fault that was potentially dangerous and fixed under warrantee about 3 weeks later to the value of circa $2000. The fault would not be apparent on a road test, if that road test did not involve having the wheel a full lock at low speed (ie parking). I would expect a road test to include the normal day to day use of the vehicle in question, such as parking. I retain an AA membersship for road side assistance and I think they do some things well, but I will think twice before using them for a pre-purchase inspection in future and am more likely to opt for a local mechanic who I know.
